Story Transcript:

Hr: U srcu Dubrovnika, u jesenje jutro, pijaca je vrvjela životom.
En: In the heart of Dubrovnik, on an autumn morning, the market buzzed with life.

En: The scents of spices mixed with the air, while colorful stalls offered fresh fruits and vegetables.

Hr: Među gomilom, Luka i Jasna hodali su rame uz rame, tražeći savršene bundeve za svoje jesensko kulinarsko natjecanje.
En: Among the crowd, Luka and Jasna walked side by side, searching for the perfect pumpkins for their autumn culinary competition.

Hr: Luka je bio odlučan.
En: Luka was determined.

Hr: Želio je osvojiti natjecanje.
En: He wanted to win the competition.

Hr: Jasna je bila opuštenija.
En: Jasna was more relaxed.

Hr: Uživa u svakom koraku procesa kuhanja.
En: She enjoys every step of the cooking process.

Hr: Hodajući među štandovima, primijetili su kako jedan stariji gospodin gura kolica puna prekrasnih, velikih bundeva.
En: Walking among the stalls, they noticed an older gentleman pushing a cart full of beautiful, large pumpkins.

En: They learned that they were already sold to an elderly lady with a brown hat.

Hr: Luka se nije htio lako predati.
En: Luka didn't want to give up easily.

En: "We need to get at least one of those pumpkins," he said firmly.

Hr: Jasna je predložila: „Možda bismo trebali pokušati popričati s gospođom.
En: Jasna suggested, "Maybe we should try talking to the lady.

Hr: Možemo joj pomoći.“ Luka se nije složio.
En: We can help her." Luka disagreed.

Hr: „Mogu pokušati s trgovinom“, odgovorio je.
En: "I can try with the store," he replied.

En: They approached the lady, who was slowly moving with the pumpkins.

Hr: „Dobar dan, gospođo.
En: "Good day, ma'am.

En: Those are really beautiful pumpkins," said Luka with a smile.

Hr: Dama se nasmijala.
En: The lady laughed.

Hr: „Hvala, mladiću.
En: "Thank you, young man.

Hr: Pripremam nešto posebno za unuka.“
En: I'm preparing something special for my grandson."

Hr: Luka je osjetio priliku.
En: Luka sensed an opportunity.

Hr: „Možda bismo mogli razmijeniti jednu bundevu za nešto drugo?“
En: "Maybe we could trade one pumpkin for something else?"

En: Jasna then added, "Maybe we can help you if you need something?"

Hr: Starija dama pogledala ih je znatiželjno.
En: The elderly lady looked at them curiously.

Hr: „Zapravo, trebam pomoć u pripremi proslave za mog unuka.
En: "Actually, I need help preparing a celebration for my grandson.

Hr: Trebam zabavljače.
En: I need entertainers.

Hr: Što kažete, dolazite svirati i zabavljati djecu?“
En: What do you say, will you come play and entertain the children?"

Hr: Luka je trepnuo.
En: Luka blinked.

Hr: To nije očekivao.
En: He hadn't expected that.

Hr: Jasna ga je potapšala po leđima.
En: Jasna patted him on the back.

En: "It could be fun," she said encouragingly.

Hr: Nakon kratke rasprave, pristali su.
En: After a brief discussion, they agreed.

Hr: Proslava je bila vesela.
En: The celebration was cheerful.

Hr: Djeca su se smijala dok su Luka i Jasna plesali i pjevali.
En: The children laughed as Luka and Jasna danced and sang.

Hr: Gospođa je bila presretna.
En: The lady was overjoyed.

Hr: Na kraju, dala im je svoju najljepšu bundevu.
En: In the end, she gave them her most beautiful pumpkin.

En: As they walked home, Luka said with a smile, “Winning isn't always the only thing that matters, Jasna.”

Hr: Ona se zadovoljno nasmije.
En: She smiled contentedly.

Hr: „Pomaganje ionako uvijek pobijedi.“

En: So Luka and Jasna arrived home with a pumpkin and a new friendship, ready for the competition but even happier for the lovely day they'd spent.

En: Autumn in Dubrovnik was wonderful, and neither Luka nor Jasna would easily forget it.
