今天我们来学习一下这样一个短语,叫做have an axe to grind,今天的表达就是来自于这个习语。这个短语可以理解成:to have something to complain about;

eg: He claims to be neutral, but he clearly has an axe to grind against the new policy.

eg: I think the boss has a bit of an axe to grind with you over the way the account was handled.

eg: If Jenny said she forgave you, then it sounds like she doesn't have an axe to grind with you after all.

eg: Bill and Bob went into the other room to argue. They had an axe to grind.
