Story Transcript:

En: Ivana stood at the edge of the ancient street, looking towards the old core of Dubrovnik.

En: The scent of salt and fresh air filled her lungs as she stepped on the stone streets.

Hr: Ivana je bila nervozna.
En: Ivana was nervous.

Hr: Godinama nije vidjela obitelj, a sada se vraćala kući.
En: She hadn't seen her family for years, and now she was returning home.

En: Luka, her older brother, was waiting on Stradun.

En: He was cold and serious, but with a hint of hope in his eyes.

En: Ivana knew she had to approach him to resolve old disagreements.

Hr: Mateo, njezin najbolji prijatelj iz djetinjstva, stajao je uz njega, uvijek odan i podržavajući.
En: Mateo, her best childhood friend, stood beside him, always loyal and supportive.

Hr: "Naša Ivana!", Mateo je uzviknuo, pružajući ruku u pozdravu.
En: "Our Ivana!", Mateo exclaimed, extending his hand in greeting.

Hr: Ivana se nasmiješila i osjetila toplinu starog prijatelja.
En: Ivana smiled and felt the warmth of an old friend.

Hr: Luka je samo kimnuo glavom.
En: Luka only nodded his head.

En: As they walked through the old city, the conversation flowed slowly.

En: Ivana struggled to explain why she left so many years ago.

Hr: "Trebala mi je promjena. Nisam vas htjela napustiti, Luka."
En: "I needed a change. I didn't want to leave you, Luka."

En: Luka looked towards her with a look of sadness.

En: Evening was approaching, and it was time for the family dinner.

Hr: U velikoj blagovaonici, atmosferu su ispunili mirisi domaće kuhinje.
En: In the large dining room, the air was filled with the aromas of homemade cuisine.

Hr: Svi su bili napeti.
En: Everyone was tense.

Hr: Ivana je duboko udahnula i prišla Luki.
En: Ivana took a deep breath and approached Luka.

En: "I want you to know, you weren't alone in all of this.

En: I tried... but I didn't know how to come back," Ivana said, her voice full of emotion.

En: Luka turned to his sister, his eyes were softer.

Hr: "Znam. Možda sam te trebao bolje razumjeti.
En: "I know. Maybe I should have understood you better.

Hr: Ali mi si falila."
En: But I missed you."

Hr: Napetost se povukla, zamijenjena sporazumijevanjem.
En: The tension withdrew, replaced by understanding.

En: Mateo watched them from the side, pleased that he had managed to reconcile two dear people.

En: As they sat at the table, Ivana felt the warmth that she had long missed.

Hr: Zajednički smijeh i sjećanja ispunili su sobu.
En: Shared laughter and memories filled the room.

Hr: Ivana je tada odlučila češće posjećivati svoju domovinu, razumjevši koliko joj je bitna.
En: Ivana then decided to visit her homeland more often, realizing how important it was to her.

En: Luka, on the other hand, admitted to himself that his sister's need for change was necessary.

En: They agreed to make more of an effort to understand each other and build new memories together.

Hr: I dok su valovi Jadranskog mora nježno udarali o kamene zidine grada,
En: And as the waves of the Adriatic Sea gently hit the stone walls of the city,
