It’s no secret that as we age it becomes harder to maintain a weight that we feel happy with and as those peri-menopausal hormonal changes begin to occur, it becomes even more challenging.
In addition to maintaining a healthy weight, there are a number of other health challenges that can develop as our female hormones change and I want to do my best to be proactive about these too. Fatigue, brain fog, mood changes, a loss in strength and flexibility, hot flushes and sleepless nights are all common symptoms that are associated with hormonal changes, but we do not need to suffer through them.
From past experience, I know it takes time to resolve health issues that are associated with hormone changes. For me personally, healing imbalances like estrogen dominance, sluggish thyroid function and insulin resistance certainly did not happen over night and I must continue on with certain daily practices to ensure they don’t become a problem again.
As Benjamin Franklin said “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” It is far easier to maintain health and to put fires out when they are in their early stages rather than waiting for full blown chaos to occur.
