I had a bill that wasn’t due for five months, a food sensitivity test I hadn’t taken yet, and a check I needed to deposit — all sitting on my counter.

They’d been there long enough that I did the very grown-up thing. I moved them to the island so they would annoy me into action.

Then I stopped looking at them there too.

I’m Heidi. I’m an interior designer who will rearrange a room before she’ll admit she’s avoiding a two-minute task. And I want to talk about the pile that isn’t really clutter.

In this episode: • The bill, the test, and the check I kept walking past • Why moving a pile is not the same as finishing it • What those stacks are usually made of (unfinished decisions, not mess) • The two minutes I finally took — and how surprisingly good it felt

If you’ve been calling yourself messy when you’re actually just mid-decision, this one’s for you.

Tell me: what have you been walking past? I read the comments.
