Why does everyone else’s life seem so shiny — the hair, the body, the brand-new white-marble kitchen — when you walk into your own house?

You’re not competing with your town anymore. Your phone handed you the entire world on a staged platter and called it the neighborhood.

I’m Heidi, an interior designer who loves her house… and I can still scroll for four minutes and watch my own kitchen feel tired. Not because it is. Because I just walked through twenty rooms that were lit for a camera.

In this episode: • What happened when comparison left your street and went global

• The gym where influencers film a workout they never actually do

• What you don’t see when I stage a kitchen for photos (the real life is in the cabinets)

• Why you can change every piece of furniture — even move across the country — and the feeling still follows you

• The house you live in in your head, and why that’s the room that actually has to get quiet

• One question before you move the chair, order the thing, or let the scroll write your morning: am I doing this because I love how I feel, or because their life looked shiny?

Wanting a beautiful room is not the injury. I build beautiful rooms. The injury is using someone else’s photo-day life as the measuring tape for whether you’re allowed to rest in yours.

If you’ve been chasing shine and wondering why the room never fixes the feeling, subscribe. I post twice a week.
