Nobody has ever booked a coaching call with Shaun asking to improve their balance. It isn't flashy and it doesn't sound like the thing that's costing you shots. It quietly sits underneath a huge number of them anyway, and once you see it, it's hard to unsee.

There's a test in this episode you can do right now: stand on one leg, get stable, close your eyes, and count how long you last before you wobble or put your foot down. Shaun screens golfers all the time who can barely manage a few seconds.

Because if you can't control your body standing still on one leg with your eyes closed, think about what's happening when you're rotating at speed and trying to deliver the clubhead to a golf ball.

In this episode:

  • The one-leg eyes-closed test, and what your score actually means
  • Why a golf swing is a controlled weight shift plus fast rotation, all while staying centred enough to deliver the club to the same spot every time
  • What happens when your body spends the whole swing just trying not to fall over: sway, slide, lost posture, no finish
  • Why your finish position is the receipt for everything that happened before it
  • Why balance is one of the fastest things to improve, because a lot of it is your nervous system learning to trust and control your body again
  • How we scale balance work safely for golfers with ankle instability, nerve issues and injury history, starting with supported work and progressing from there
  • Why this is one of the quickest wins available, especially if you're older or coming back from injury
