Cutting out the Middle Man from Politics ft. Mia Jacobson
As Moneyless Society grows we want to introduce you to more of our members and the ways we're working to build alternative systems in our communities. And with the upcoming U.S. general election, this insight from our dedicated volunteer, Mia Jacobson, couldn't be more timely.
As a longshoreman and member of a historic union herself, Mia understands how important it is for the boots on the ground to have a say in organizational decision-making. That's part of her reasoning for why elected representation is an outdated system of governance. In an age where almost everyone has access to technology that can inform them of what's going on, and allow them to engage with decision-making processes, there's no need to ask someone who doesn't know or understand them, to speak for them.
Tune in to hear what other approaches are possible, and how other parts of the world are already putting them into practice. And look out for more episodes soon featuring other members of Moneyless Society, building a new world together that's based on care and community, rather than capital.
