We've all felt the squeeze of technofascism scraping our data, suppressing our voices, and forcing our eyes onto their messaging like we're living in A Clockwork Orange. Well, the Media & Messaging Circle of Moneyless Society is plotting some ways out. As the voice and the first point of contact with our organization M&M seeks to inform and connect with our online community -- and now, encourage them to start taking more of their connection offline. Listen in to learn about our goal of making content that is more "vital" than "viral", and how we're seeking greener pastures in the Fediverse as mainstream social platforms become less and less social. As Moneyless Society grows we want to introduce you to more of our members and the ways we're working to build alternative systems in our communities. And with the upcoming U.S. general election, this insight from our dedicated volunteer, Mia Jacobson, couldn't be more timely.   As a longshoreman and member of a historic union herself, Mia understands how important it is for the boots on the ground to have a say in organizational decision-making. That's part of her reasoning for why elected representation is an outdated system of governance. In an age where almost everyone has access to technology that can inform them of what's going on, and allow them to engage with decision-making processes, there's no need to ask someone who doesn't know or understand them, to speak for them.   Tune in to hear what other approaches are possible, and how other parts of the world are already putting them into practice. Those words are from the website of our friend Shaun Chamberlin, a researcher, writer and activist continuing to carry the torch of giants like Michael Dowd, who brought us the "Post-Doom" philosophy. In this episode we let ourselves look at all the things we MIGHT NOT be able to accomplish in trying to save the world, and sit with what that means for our future. But realism is not pessimism, and seeing with clear eyes allows us to make this life meaningful, no matter where it leads.

This month, a group of core Moneyless Society volunteers met up in the scenic mountains of Kentucky to get a firsthand taste of self-sufficient living, discuss the future of the organization, and just generally revel in the company of comrades who have only been able to collaborate digitally for the past few years. During that time, we also recorded a podcast episode meant to introduce the world to a few of the hands helping build the coming transition, and to the larger community and mission making it possible. Listen in, and reach out to see how you can get involved in bringing about the next economic evolution of our world. We still have a long way to go, and a lot to learn, but if we've learned anything from our experiences so far it's that we have what we need to get there when we put our skills, knowledge, and passions together.

Science fiction is an effective way to put our current reality into context, and helps us imagine what our future might look like. For authors like Cory Doctorow, that fact is extremely useful in getting people to imagine what could be possible in a changed world -- and understand that changing the world IS POSSIBLE. On today's episode, we dive into all the ways that we give power to authoritarian social systems when we buy into their self-inflating social narratives. And how the people who control those systems deceive us into thinking that they are actually powerful sorcerers who possess obscure, ancient knowledge -- and not, as Doctorow says, just a bunch of charlatans sifting through the guts of a sacrificial goat.
