The LTB have been receiving documents that evidence serious violations of the Residential Tenancies Act, (the legislative Act governing Landlord/Tenant relations) in the province of Ontario.Some of the evidence includes theft of public money showing the not for profit landlord taking more funds from the public Trust than what they were authorized to take and what is required for the (housing) subsidy. They also fail to produce receipts for any of their tenants, yet Will attempt to evict a tenant for non payment of rent without any Notice they stopped receiving funding.The CBC just posted an article about the Auditor General finding city of Ottawa employees conspiring with not for profit landlords to put public money in their own pocket. Cathy Curry was recently featured in another CBC article exposing fraud and collusion between City of Ottawa employees and landlords that were involved in a 'Kickback Scheme', increasing rent up to 63% above market values and keeping it for their Self. That's theft of public money and Cathy Curry was reported to believe it may just be the tip of the iceberg. The manager of the City of Ottawa employees involved in the scheme is Clara Freier who said she was 'absolutely horrified' to hear of the ordeal. This is the same Clara Freier that believes the Trustee Act of Ontario and Canada's Criminal Code are not binding upon her. BONUS EPISODE!!! Call to Cathy Curry, City Councillor So I am reporting to Cathy Curry that My landlord, a not for profit organization known as Multifaith Housing Initiative was skimming an extra $60 month above the actual rent. The contract that allowed for the theft of that public money was Signed at the Ontario Works office.
