Captain Steve Jangelis, Safety Chair, Air Line Pilots Association International Captain Steve Jangelis is the Aviation Safety Chair for the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l Air Safety Organization. The ALPA Air Safety Organization has over 450 line-pilot volunteer safety subject matter experts and is the largest non-governmental safety organization in the world, representing over 80,000 pilots at 42 airlines in the United States and Canada. Captain Jangelis represents ALPA as a member of the FAA/Industry Aviation Safety Team (AST) and served on several government and industry groups. These include his tenure as Industry Co-Chair for the US FAA’s Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing System (ASIAS), the Industry Co-Chair for the US FAA’s Runway Safety Council and was seated as a founding member on the US FAA’s Airport Construction Advisory Council. Currently an Airbus A-330 Captain and formerly a Line Check Airman/Standards Pilot on the Boeing 757/767 for Delta Air Lines, Captain Jangelis has also previously flown the Airbus A320, Boeing 717, 727, and the McDonnell Douglas MD-80/90 series aircraft. Captain Jangelis has also participated in safety risk management panels on runway construction, airspace modifications, UAS, and Commercial Space integration.
