In this segment, our guest Sandra Barros shares with us her family life to decode immigrant parenting choices and how generational messages of identity are internalized. We explored "Spanish only" homes discussing how assimilation, discrimination, and collective trauma influence the choices of parents. Sandra reflects on her therapeutic work and draws how these internalized messages produce shame, while offering strategies for finding healing through collective action during times of political distress and decompressing on an individualistic and collectivistic level.
