On this episode of The Capsule, recorded live at Beyond The Moves Experience in Paris, we sit down with Lumi, co-founder of the influential Paris Hip-Hop crew Sons of Wind.
We dig into how Sons of Wind formed out of the Paris battle scene, why they moved beyond battling to build a full crew philosophy, and how deep study of hip-hop's musical roots (Detroit, New York, LA) led them to develop their signature "Hood Bounce" style, a name given to them by a Hip Hop legend. Lumi opens up about blending his Guadeloupean and Martinican roots into his foundation, the responsibility dancers have to the culture (not just to competitions and social media), and how Sons of Wind, alongside crews like LDDLM, helped bring style and depth back to modern Hip Hop battles.
