The VOCAL GIRLS podcast is the series where music journalist and VOCAL GIRLS Founder, Megan Graye, chats to artists about their past, present and future, and the music that intertwines these experiences. This week, Megan's speaking to Julie Dawson, the lead singer of Galway band, NewDad.


NewDad are one of the most exciting bands of the moment; they have a distinct layered sound music which feels solemn yet upbeat, and they combine this with relatable and poignant lyrics. In this episode, Megan speaks with Julie Dawson, the bands vocalist and rhythm guitarist. As the NewDad are currently based in Ireland, this episode was recorded over Zoom shortly after the release of their new EP Banshee.


In this episode we talk about early influences, writing Banshee, and the new pressure on artists to be consistently creating.
