(Peety Ear-Full 7) Panic, Prayers, and Promises Made.

PEETY begins working on turning her poem into a song, while EMTs rush in to save the day. PEETY sets her father straight that this type of surgery is a serious matter and tries to convince ALFREDO to leave and find another surgeon who respects his patient's time. SAM's health quickly deteriorates and he is rushed out. PETRA wants to pray a rosary for their new friend and ALFREDO lets everyone know his "end of life" wishes.

The OFFICE MANAGER returns to let SARAH know SAM will need further testing, and that she has to pay up front, since his insurance company denied his EKG. Frustrated, SARAH fights to get more care for her uncle. PEETY nearly loses her patience with the ineffective OFFICE MANGER, who is unhelpful. PEETY is astounded to find her own parents have given in to the system and given up as SAM tries to convert them to follow his beliefs. She tries to get her father, ALFREDO, to understand that he has to be strong and stand up to injustice, but he lets her know he is tired of fighting.

SAM SMITH makes his entrance known as his niece, SARAH noisily pushes his wheel chair into the waiting room. PEETY and her parents take notice of SAM's appearance realizing he doesn't look well, and are amazed that despite this, he is incessantly eating donut holes. PEETY shares a poem she was inspired to write with her parents and all are surprised by SAM's response, since they weren't aware he was even listening. ALFREDO tries to distract his daughter, who he can tell is ready to give SAM a piece of her mind, by asking her to ask the OFFICE MANGER for the latest update on when he will be seen. PEETY and SARAH talk about her uncle, SAM SMITH and how his hurtful words should be ignored. SARAH is concerned that her uncle's condition is more urgent than others, but did what he told her to do, and she did it. PEETY complains they aren't very organized.

PEETY is concerned that her father's primary care doctor hasn't sent the needed referral to this office, and is annoyed by the OFFICE MANAGER's attitude and the latest setback. PEETY shares the bad news with her parents and PETRA decides to call their doctor's assistant to straighten everything out. PEETY notices her mom's not the picture of health and is concerend that her parents aren't taking care of themsleves. PETRA tries to make her daughter understand what is like to get old and the difficultites of having to adjust to the ineviable loss of abilities we used to take for granted.

PEETY continues filling out her father's forms, while ALFREDO lets her know about his routine of taking pills he has been prescribed, his enjoyment of eating his favorite foods, and his pride in cutting the grass, even though PETRA objects. PEETY explains the importance of being honest with your doctor, when ALFREDO seems reluctant to share his family history. PETRA begins to feel left out of her husband and daughter’s private conversations.

ALFREDO finds his medicine list and begins sharing the info with PEETY, who is doing her best to help her father prepare for this important appointment. PETRA begins her project of assembling rosaries from the supplies she brought to help her pass the time. PEETY notices her mother also needs help, and makes a suggestion. While she realizes she wants to help both her parents, she understands that may not always be possible.

PEETY, a first generation Cuban American daughter and her elderly parents, ALFREDO and PETRA, arrive early for her father's consult with his heart surgeon in Miami, FL. After checking in to the overcrowded waiting room, ALFREDO and PEETY begin to fill out forms they have been given by the OFFICE MANGER. PEETY and ALFREDO have different points of view on what is important and what should be shared with his doctor.

Time passes and Fiona is back in an artistic groove, according to Paula, who has her own concerns and fears that she shares with Fiona. Fiona explains to Paula that she has a different perspective now due to all the treatment she gone through and is trying to throw away her inhibitions as she explores life and art through new eyes.
