Purity, Formulations & Chromatography: Chromatography š§Ŗ GCSE Chemistry Learning & Revision
In this episode, we discuss chromatography.
ChromatographyĀ is a technique used toĀ separate the components of a mixture.
This process relies on two phases: aĀ mobile phaseĀ that carries substances and aĀ stationary phaseĀ that impedes their movement.
TheĀ separation occurs because different substances have varying affinitiesĀ for these two phases.
If a substance is more attracted to the mobile phase, it travels further; conversely, greater attraction to the stationary phase results in less movement.
TheĀ effectiveness of separation can be influenced by the solventĀ used as the mobile phase.
