The You Trust runs three homes for about 15 people with a learning disability, off Borough Road.

There are different levels of need and the aim is to support as much independence as possible. This may mean residential care, supported living and living in the community.

Mike Waddington visited the Supported Living home of Rachel, Anne, Kelly and Colin in their bungalow (where they have a parrot called Ronnie).

They told him about their life together and why it works for them and some of the challenges now and problems in the past.

They do think there needs to be a greater understanding of learning disability but they like living in Petersfield

Rob from The You Trust explains the system and how Supported Living works; funding comes through Hampshire County Council but with contributions based on benefits and income.

The interviews were fully consented as were the images. Thanks to The You Trust for facilitating this interview.
