The Baton of Hope is the UK’s biggest ever suicide prevention initiative. The Olympic torch-style baton is the world’s first physical icon of mental health. It’s touring the country in a relay to raise awareness of suicide and reduce the stigma of talking about it.

The event is taking place in 20 locations and on Friday (26 September) it came to Portsmouth - over 100 residents carried the Baton of Hope through the city

Jo Gray spoke to Steve from Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth Lord Mayor Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson.
