One thing we notice very often in our Luxembourgish classes:
Many learners can answer questions perfectly wellā¦
ā¦but after 2 sentences, the conversation dies š
Beispill:
āWar dƤi Weekend flott?ā
āJo. An dƤin?ā
āMajo, och flott.ā
And then ā¦ā¦ silence.
The problem is usually not grammar.
Itās that many learners were taught how to ANSWER questions but not how to KEEP a conversation going.
One small thing can change everything:
š Ask follow-up questions.
Instead of:
āWar dƤi Weekend flott?ā
try:
āWat hues du de Weekend gemaach?ā
or
āWĆ©i war dƤi Weekend?ā
Suddenly, the conversation becomes much more natural.
This is actually one of the most important speaking skills:
not only knowing Luxembourgish⦠but knowing how to continue the interaction naturally.
I talk about this in the newest podcast episode and share simple ways to make conversations flow more naturally in Luxembourgish š§
