117 | God Didn't Call You To Be Safe
Most people who say āIām still praying about itā already know the answer.
You felt the conviction. You recognized the nudge. You knew the next step.
But obedience would require:
-
disappointing someone
-
risking failure
-
being seen
-
letting go of safety
So instead, we spiritualize hesitation.
Truth punch: If God had not spoken, there would be confusion. But when God speaks, resistance usually feels like āwaiting.ā
Biblical truth: š John 10:27 ā āMy sheep hear my voice⦠and they follow me.ā Hearing is not the issue. Following is.
š„ 2. When Discernment Becomes a Delay TacticDiscernment is meant to protect obedience ā not postpone it.
But many believers use:
-
āI just want peace firstā
-
āIām waiting for confirmationā
-
āI donāt want to rush Godā
ā¦as a way to avoid movement.
Hereās the hard truth: God rarely gives comfort before obedience. Peace usually follows obedience ā it doesnāt precede it.
Sharp insight: If you need more confirmation than obedience requires, you may be seeking reassurance, not God.
Biblical truth: š James 1:22 ā āDo not merely listen to the word⦠do what it says.ā
š„ 3. Obedience Will Cost You Something ā Thatās the PointGodās instructions often confront:
-
people-pleasing
-
perfectionism
-
fear of being misunderstood
-
desire for control
If obedience doesnāt cost you anything, itās probably convenience ā not calling.
Delay feels safer because it keeps you:
-
responsible but not accountable
-
spiritual but unchanged
-
informed but uncommitted
Truth punch: Delayed obedience doesnāt feel rebellious ā it feels reasonable. But heaven still calls it disobedience.
Biblical truth: š Luke 9:23 ā āWhoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselvesā¦ā
š„ 4. You Donāt Need Another Answer ā You Need AlignmentGod is not obligated to keep repeating Himself.
At some point:
-
prayer becomes negotiation
-
journaling becomes justification
-
waiting becomes hiding
And clarity turns into clutter.
This is the identity moment (especially for introverts): Introverted women often delay because they want to be certain before being visible ā but God builds confidence after obedience, not before.
Biblical truth: š Proverbs 3:5ā6 ā āTrust in the Lord⦠do not lean on your own understanding.ā
š Letās Take Action:This episode is incomplete without movement.
1ļøā£ Name the Answer Youāve Been AvoidingAsk yourself honestly: āWhat did God already tell me ā that Iāve been hoping Heād change?ā
Write it down. No editing. No softening.
2ļøā£ Identify the Real ResistanceFinish this sentence: āI havenāt obeyed because Iām afraid of __________.ā
Fear loses power when itās named.
3ļøā£ Take the Smallest Step of ObedienceNot the whole plan. Not the final outcome.
Just the next faithful step:
-
send the email
-
make the decision
-
set the boundary
-
launch imperfectly
-
say yes (or no)
God doesnāt bless intentions. He blesses obedience.
4ļøā£ Declare This Out LoudāI donāt need more answers. I need more obedience.ā
Say it until it stops stinging.
