Before the guys have a chance to get started with today’s Mailbag, they get totally distracted by a photo sent in from a listener of Joe at the Pride Parade and the news that the actor Mark Bonnar was also in David’s Inspector Linley scene. But once that’s all dealt with, they read messages about a very exciting Funhouse audition at school, a clothes shop-owning weed smoker, some advice about playing 5-a-side football, a retro TV YouTube channel, a multi-purpose beard quip and spotting Greg Rusedski at a Genesis concert. Joe had a recent vigilante incident involving some teenage skateboarders that he really wants to tell David about. But before he can do that, David is shocked to learn that Joe used to skateboard in his youth - so that gets discussed immediately along with roller blading, roller discos and yo-yoing. David also tells Joe about some very quirky characters he came across in Totness the other day, before we finally get back to Joe’s vigilante story. And as if all that wasn’t enough, David finishes the episode by telling Joe about the time he had a run-in with some Gatwick airport counter-terrorism police. It was all very dramatic indeed! David’s been settling in to a new exercise routine over the past few months, which he does with a personal trainer both in person and online. So he kicks off this episode by explaining to Joe what it exactly entails and demonstrating some of the moves - much to Joe’s amusement. Joe has two Kevin McCloud type artists jackets which are a little out of his comfort zone - but he’s been wearing them a lot recently and now feels much more comfortable in them. That was until this morning when he saw someone wearing one (along with a Cornish fisherman’s hat) and is now really unsure about the whole look. So he asks David for some advice about it - which might not be that helpful at all?! They also chat about answering the phone in the nude, David’s linen trousers, delivering beds, read a nice review of the pod and get sent a lovely wedding photo with Joe in it. It’s a grumpy David at the start of today’s show as he’s just found out his Peloton is broken and hasn’t been able to exercise this morning. So Joe tries to distract him by telling him about how much he enjoyed the Brighton Pride Parade recently and even had a little dance there. He also tells David about some art he’s just bought and a great new song he’s heard - all of which David doesn’t seem that interested in. But eventually he begins to cheer up a bit and they start nattering about lorries and lorry drivers, find out what other things Joe gets up to in Brighton and have a go at playing Mock The Week’s ‘most unlikely to hear at’ game. It’s a funny old episode but we get there in the end. Following his recent holiday in Cornwall, David wants to spend today’s show recounting a magical morning he had whilst staying in the small fishing town of Mevagissey. But it seems he’s going to have to go some way to convince Joe it’ll be interesting enough to fill an episode, for both him and the listeners. David’s undeterred and ploughs on regardless - sound effects and all! Also, having met several very contented retirees down by the harbour that day, David starts to wonder what he and Joe would do in their retirement?
