December 17th is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. Started in Seattle in 2003 by Dr. Annie Sprinkle and SWOP-USA as a tribute to the victims of the Green River Killer, December 17th has become a global movement. Maxine Showers of Liverpool, England left for work and never came home. Her murder alleged he'd punched her when she tried to rob him, and that she left of her own accord. Donna Marie Gentile (August 22, 1962- June 23,1985) was a street-based sex worker recruited as a police corruption informant. After she delivered testimony against several officers with the San Diego Police Department, she was found murdered. Her killer or killers have never been identified.
