Lindsay Clancy Back In Court For First Time Since Mistrial; Will She Face Murder Charges Again?

The fate of Caleb Flynn will be in the hands of the jury today after both the prosecution and defense rested their cases on Monday. The prosecution called 40 witnesses over the past 7 days, while the defense chose to rest without calling a single witness to the stand. The former American Idol contestant is accused of shooting and killing his wife Ashely while she was sleeping and then staging the home to make it look like a burglary. While the defense reminded the jury there is no physical evidence linking Flynn to the murder, there is a mountain of circumstantial evidence pointing to Flynn,  including from his own text messages. Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, has filed several motions for today’s hearing as we wait to hear whether prosecutors plan to retry Clancy for the strangling deaths of her three children.  Reddington will first ask the judge to find Clancy not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.  The defense has also moved to dismiss the case on double jeopardy grounds, arguing the judge should not have declared a mistrial, but instead should have questioned the holdout juror or replaced him. “Primetime” came in a respectable number 4 over the weekend, and critics are singing its praises, earning an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the journalist the movie portrays, former NBC reporter Chris Hansen, is upset, saying the film is a “complete work of fiction.” Hansen goes on to say the movie is “detached from reality or anything I’ve ever experienced.” Hansen is played by actor Robert Pattinson and depicts his role working on “To Catch a Predator” back in 2006, when a potential target  of the show, a Texas prosecutor died by suicide rather than be confronted by the reality show and police.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The attorney for the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial is defending his client, saying Michael Desronvil had zero doubt about his decision and has “a mountain of evidence” to back up his decision. The second full week of testimony is underway in the Caleb Flynn murder trial. The former American Idol alum is accused of murdering his wife of 15 years, Ashely Flynn. On Friday, Flynn sobbed once again in court as a detective played both of his interrogation videos, recorded on the day of his wife’s murder. 18-year-old Kingston Bradley has been charged with malice murder after neighbors saw him carrying a plastic tub with a dismembered torso inside. Police had just left that same apartment complex after a woman’s family reported her missing, claiming her cell phone’s location was nearby.
