This episode contains my reactions to a movie about cryptocurrency which includes Bitcoin. Actor Ben McKenzie(not his real name which is Ben McKenzie Schenkkan) made a documentary movie about cryptocurrency called: "Everyone Is Lying To You For Money." By the way, as an aside and to help put things into context, Ben McKenzie is a multi-millionaire! Good for him. But can a multi-millionaire who has a net worth GREATER than 98% of Americans, relate to the common person? Possibly.

Ben McKenzie's movie does accurately speak about some fraudsters how became wealthy in cryptocurrency and unfortunately some people also lost money using the "coins" and/or crypto exchanges that these fraudsters built (see Celsius and FTX networks for more information). But this movie also entirely misses the point about Bitcoin's advantages.

The movie also does not speak about Bitcoin moving in a 4 year cycle- meaning in order to make money (profit) and see "number go up" you have to buy Bitcoin/hold Bitcoin for at least 4 years! The movie never speaks about this very obvious fact that most Bitcoin investors realize.

We live in a digital economy whether we own Bitcoin or not. How often do you pay for things either in person/online with cash as compared to how often do you use a credit car/debit card to pay for things? The movie also does not speak about the digital economy in which we already live. Your bank account statement balance, your brokerage account statement balance, your 401K statement balance, ALL are DIGITAL entries. Think about it!

The movie seems to indicate that people should trust the banking system. Does Ben McKenzie believe that the bank keeps his cash in a little drawer with his name on it at the bank, waiting for him or his wife to come ask to withdraw some of the cash? It's absurd to NOT understand how our banking system actually works in 2026 when anyone can utilize an internet connection to research it.

The movie does NOT cover that several countries around the world continue to print MORE fiat currency. And the movie also does NOT highlight the advantage that Bitcoin has over ANY fiat currency is that there will only ever be, 21 Million Bitcoin on the planet. Scarcity can make things very valuable!

The movie also doesn't speak about how someone can buy/hold Bitcoin and become very wealthy, just at Ben McKenzie has become very wealthy. Although Bitcoin does not pay me ANY dividends, it also does not cost me money-meaning I don't have to pay taxes to hold it, I don't need to get an insurance policy to own it etc. (the way I would have to do if I bought/held/owned real estate).

Another feature of Bitcoin that makes it different from using the standard banking system is: I can transfer payments to anywhere on the planet, WITHOUT being forced to utilize a CENTRAL clearing house/or a BANKING institution sitting in the middle of that transfer!

Ever since Covid in 2019/2020 when there was a TON of money printing done...prices have gone UP dramatically. There HIGHER prices are simply the "new normal." They prices don't temporarily go up and then go back down!! This is INFLATION at work in our economy. And the price of ENERGY can cause prices for ANY physical good to go up since FUEL  is used to truck/deliver goods all over the USA!

History is full of examples where governments debased the money over time to the point where it almost became worthless (see Roman Empire, Weimar Germany, Venezuela, Zimbabwe etc.).

Have courage today, to pick one thing, and work on your dreams. We will talk again soon.

I'm not a financial advisor. This podcast is for education/entertainment purposes only. You will need to do your own research and accept responsibility for the results of any money you choose to invest. I love using Schwab.com to buy/sell stocks/ETF's/closed end funds/options. Schwab has a very user friendly app/website and their customer service is excellent. I can easily get to speak to a human being whenever I have questions.
