93. My Brain Injury Anniversary - Reflections & Hope (Cristabelle Braden)
Today is the 17th anniversary of my first traumatic brain injury, which began the journey... and it has been a long one of re-injuries, symptoms, setbacks, and struggles. Today, I'm sharing some of my own story and hope to encourage you to keep moving forward in your own journey.
Brain injury anniversaries can be hard and bring mixed emotions. Some years I have found myself really sad, some years grateful, but most of the time it's a mix of both.
In this episode, I simply share some reflections from my heart. Takeaways include:
- It's okay to feel sad on your brain injury anniversary - plan to give yourself grace and space for that day.
- Allow yourself to feel, grieve, and acknowledge the hard parts.
- Reflect on how far you have come since your injury.
- Consider what blessings may have come since your injury that you didn't expect.
- Be open to unexpected opportunities.
- Healing is a long journey that requires patience and resilience.
- Faith can be a powerful anchor during difficult times.
- Sharing your story can help others feel less isolated.
- It's never too late to seek new treatments and therapies.
