Daily Boost Podcast Stuck Lost Confused Ick September 7, 2026 | Episode 5536 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description It's Labor Day, and I woke up thinking about a conversation I have almost every single day of my life. A young man crossed the gym floor last week to thank me, then told me about a decision he can't make. Two good options. No way to choose. If you've ever stalled out in front of a choice like that, you know the feeling. Stuck, lost, confused, ick. I'm not handing you a blueprint today. I'm going to show you why you don't have one yet, and the one move that changes it. Listen. Featured Story I was walking out of the gym when a young man came across the floor and asked if I was Scott Smith. We'd talked in the sauna months earlier, and he wanted to say thanks. He's a military officer in his final semester, choosing between infantry and aviation, walking and listening and projecting twenty years forward, trying to settle it. I could hear his answer in his voice before he could. So I asked the question I get paid good money to ask. Have you ever flown an airplane? Nope. Just a simulator. I told him he has no idea whether he wants it. Important Points * When you keep delaying a decision, it isn't laziness. You haven't decided what the thing is supposed to be yet. * You can't evaluate a life you've never lived. Buy one hour of the real thing before you commit the next ten years. * Being stuck means you can't name the next step, not the whole plan. Name that one step and you start moving again. Memorable Quotes * If you ever see me delay on anything, you can bet I haven't decided exactly what it's supposed to be. * You can live vicariously through somebody else's experience, but you have no idea, because your boots aren't over there. * Once you put the target on it, you run. I can't hold people back when they figure out what they want. They go for it. Scott's Three-Step Approach * Admit that the delay is really a decision you haven't made yet, rather than calling it bad timing or a scheduling problem. * Take that undecided thing and touch the real version of it once. One hour, one flight, one honest conversation. * Name the single next step your gut hands you afterward, then move on it right away before your ego talks you out.
