Episode 19 | The Black Dahlia

In our final episode, the sisters discuss unsolved murders of the 1980’s. Cassie covers the death of Ed Baker & the murder of Dian Harlin and disappearance of Hugh Harlin. While Gina covers the murder of primatologist Dian Fossey & the drowning of actress Natalie Wood.

This week, Gina covers the case of Richard Speck. A crime that defined the century and shocked the country. When Richard Speck arrived in Chicago in 1966 no one would have imagined he would systimatically rape, torture, and kill 8 innocent victims. What drove him to commit his crimes and how would he pay?

This week, Gina covers one of the most prolific serial arsonists in history, Thomas A. Sweatt. Sweatt terrorized the Washington D.C. metropolitan area by setting over 350 fires over the course of 30 years. His fined tuned methods helped him evade capture, as communities grew more and more terrified. An expected piece of evidence helps lead to his eventual arrest.

This week, the sisters cover unsolved murder cases from the 1970’s. Cassie covers the Freeway Phantom Murders and the Murder of Pauline “Robbin” Burgette, while Gina covers the murder of “Hogan’s Heroes” star Bob Crane and the Assassination of Georgi Markov.

This week, Gina covers "The Soap Maker of Correggio," Italy's most notorious female serial killer, Leonarda Cianciulli. Leonarda would murder three women who considered her a friend in the small Italian village of Correggio, Italy in 1940. More disturbing than the crimes themselves was her actions after the murders, eventually making her a household name throughout Italy.

This week, Cassie & Gina delve into the realm of conspiracy theories, and attempt to decipher what is fact and what is fiction. Cassie takes on the “Birds Aren't Real” theory and JFK's Assassination, while Gina takes on The Apollo 11 Moon Landings and the Death of Adolf Hitler.

This week, Gina covers the crimes of The Railroad Killer, serial killer Ángel Maturino Reséndiz.  Occurring throughout the 1990's, it is believed he is responsible for a minimum of 23 murders, the crimes being of such violent nature he landed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list.  Considering he evaded capture for so long by crossing borders, how many additional victims could he be responsible for?

This week, Cassie covers the crime spree of Douglas Clark and his accomplice Carol Bundy, more widely known as the Sunset Strip Killers. In the summer of 1980, the couple committed a number of murders in Los Angeles, primarily targeting sex workers and runaways. Police arrested Clark and Bundy in August of 1980, but revelations during the trial lead many to view this case in a whole new light. 

This week, Gina covers the unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short. aka The Black Dahlia. When Elizabeth Short was brutally murdered in Los Angeles, in 1947, the gruesome nature of the crime quickly garnered national attention. But more than 70 years have passed and the case remains one of the most infamous unsolved murder cases of all time.
