In 2022, news media across the globe reported that hundreds of mass graves containing the remains of Indigenous children had been discovered at a former residential school site in Canada. It seems all we do nowadays is talk about “mental health,” yet apparently, things are getting worse, not better. Are we in a mental health crisis? Has the destigmatization of mental illness helped? At one time, ⁠Andrew Lawton⁠ was struggling with mental health issues, suicidal himself. Had MAID been an option for him then, he may well have taken it. But things got better, and now he is living a happy and fulfilling life, very glad he didn't take that irreversible step.
