Earl is accompanied by Kat Cisor and Kristen Payne from the Lead Free Schools Coalition, as well as Melody McCurtis from Metcalf Park Community Bridges, to address the lead contamination issue in our state. Earl inquires about the motivation behind the establishment of their organization and the specific activities they undertake. Dr. Kristen Payne holds the legislature responsible for the problems and argues that if the community is so deeply engaged, then the government should step up to help create change. The coalition asserts that enhancing lead hazard controls could result in savings of $1.7 billion for each birth cohort due to a decrease in violent crime rates. Earl receives calls, and one caller expresses the opinion that politicians such as Robin Voss should be held accountable through lawsuits or even criminal charges for failing to allocate the necessary funds to tackle the health crisis effectively.
