Vogue’s April Cover Star Doja Cat on Taxidermy, Touring, and Therapy
Doja Cat is Vogue’s April cover star and is currently touring her latest album, Vie, worldwide through the rest of the year. She joined The Run-Through from her dining room in Los Angeles, accompanied by her unbelievably cute cat named Axel.
Doja shared some behind-the-scenes moments from her Vogue cover shoot, shot by Willie Vanderperre and styled by Carlos Nazario, and talked about her favorite looks from the session. Apart from the excitement of the Vie tour, the cover shoot and co-hosting Vogue’s upcoming Vintage Market, Doja says she’s just plain tired.
“Downtime for me is, I put on a heating blanket and play Fortnite, or I watch Judy Justice,” she says.
But she is also thinking about everything all at once: the one outfit per tour show (logistics, yes, but also her intention to own the stage, not get lost in it), the Nina Hagen influence running underneath the whole production, the sketches for next week's look that she keeps staring at without quite knowing what they'll become. She’s on the the Met Gala host committee this year, but she has yet to decide what her look will be.
Doja also shared some of the revelations she’s had during her twice-weekly therapy sessions, along with her surprisingly understated go-to fashion brands when she’s not on-stage. Check out vogue.com for her April cover story and listen to the full conversation above!
