Revisiting Reboots

With a new UI and less "HBO" in the title, we share our feelings about MAX.

Disney has had a bumpy 2023. From the less than stellar marvel movies, Jonathan Majors fiasco, the fight with Florida and DeSantis and losing 4 millions subscribers, it's been a tough first half of the year.

In part 2 of our, Hollywood needs new ideas rant, we take a deep dive on IP and franchises. Nowadays everything on the silver screen is either a franchise or about to be a franchise. Why is that?

Why does so much content on TV these days feel like it was adapted from something? Yea we’ve been wondering that too, so we went and did the hard work and found the answers. Let’s talk about it.

Unlike any other social media platform, Twitter (more specifically its influence) is the easiest platform to see on TV and movies. Sometimes it’s direct, like the 2019 movie Zola, which literally used tweets to craft the story.Other times, it’s the relationship to jokes that get their shine on Twitter and get woven into scripts in writers rooms. In rarer instances, a show’s jokes are able to generate Twitter content weekly with each episode drop. Most recently, a show has been created based on a very specific byproduct of Twitter. We’re gonna talk about all of these works, what works or what doesn’t, and if going viral translates to other screens. 

The title describes itself. It’s been the talk of the past week, is it worth watching? Here’s what we think.

Did they use an intimacy coordinator? Do showrunners/writers consider actor’s consent when writing scripts? What kind of sex is too much? Who actually has this much sex?
