4 Years Later

Today I want to introduce you to Wahba, I had the pleasure of meeting this human a few years ago on one of my many trips to Egypt and he quickly became someone I could connect with, someone who’s energy and passion for what he does is almost tangible in how he speaks, and someone who not only makes time for those close to him but has welcomed me into those spaces and shared those friends with me as well We chat about what it means to pursue what you love and life overall with a passion that does not wait on others to understand or agree, and what it looks like to value the memories made in the small moments when we get to disconnect and be fully present with those closest to us.He shares how Egypt’s culture is such a combination of its people, its chaos, its food, the religion, and how all of it comes together to be something he missed when living in LA. What have you chosen in life that changed you?I like to think that everyone on this earth is someone who can change us for the better, someone we can learn from, share life with, and celebrate who they are.People like Marco are why I continue to believe that to be true. I spent the past week in Sardinia, and being greeted by Marco in the mornings and sitting and talking in the afternoons quickly became a highlight of my time thereMarco shared with me what it has been in life to make choices, to step towards big changes and step away from parts of life he knew he didn’t want. Ismail is one so much talent, a kind heart, and someone that is easy to laugh and get creative with when it comes to photography and his love for horsesWe chat a little about what it means to allow the pursuit of what you love change your life, how his first horse led him to becoming a veterinarian, and how that brought him to Cappadocia, and to what life is like for him now. In the times I get to spend with Jesse I find myself seeing life itself with a little more whimsy, in a way that I notice the sound of the wind in the trees and the beauty of a bird nearby. There is something magical in humans that make sure you don’t miss out on the details of life around you, and Jesse is such a soul.We chat about what the words family and honor mean to him, why family and the intentional acceptance and openness of that space creates love in a way not much else can. I think we remember and recognize what feels like kindness and a safe place. George is one that will take the time to talk, but more so, be one to listen. Do you feel seen even when you are silent?Today I want to introduce you to Renata, an absolute gem and life filled soul, one that is gentle and kind, one that sees and responds with a heart of confidence and love to those around her, and one that I can laugh with and learn from alwaysRenata is so many things as we might conventionally define her, a designer, a dj, a diver, a yoga instructor, model, and so so much more, but perhaps it is in the ever explored roads she goes down that define her most, as one that is pursing life, in all its joys, all its excitement and intrigue, and doing so with a fluid acceptance of herselfShe shares about the value of being real, in being yourself, no matter what that may be, but to be reminded that who you are is how others should know you, and it’s up to us to show and be who we are.  If someone saw the magic in you, what would they see?Today I want to introduce you to Jason, someone who is light and magic in human form, someone full of life, stories, and empathy in a way that has known life. Jason is someone filled with kindness for humanity around him, the kind that desires to share joy and see the sparkles in othersJason shares with me his journey in becoming a charter captain, how life is not a practice run, and the conversation that we have with ourselves to find the courage to pursue what brings us fulfillment and joy We chat about how fear can so often be intertwined with what we love and how it is something we both do our best to find ourselves one day on the other side of. When was the last time you asked yourself how you feel? Today I want to introduce you to one of my dearest friends, I met Niko ten years ago on my first trip to Greece. There is something to be said for how we get to cross paths with someone and how life keeps them in our own Niko is kind, one who loves and cares deeply, one that will do whatever he can for those close to him, one that values the life he has and those he gets to share it with He shares how character is not just what we choose to do or how we choose to act, but how it is formed from those in our livesWe talk about what it looks like to grow in oneself and what it means to not do everything for those who won’t do anything for you.
