In this episode, host Keith Woodward talks with Rand Pecknold. You heard in Episode 1 how Rand was named coach in 1994, and how the program grew under his leadership. You will now hear about the beginnings, as we learn about the pivot points in the evolution of the program. The conversation begins with Rand as a young player in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, influenced by his dad, who also played the game. The conversation then migrates to the first couple of practices in 1994, and you must listen to the story about one of the players. Rand, as the 2023-24 season begins, he has a record of 615-337-103 and currently ranks first among all active NCAA Division I coaches in career victories and ninth all-time, which is impressive, because he started 1-12-1. Yes, he remembers that start. All episodes begin with Quinnipiac Student Matt Mungo’s call on the Quinnipiac Bobcat Sports Network of the National Championship goal.
