In June 2024, we hosted our first Running Hub Retreat in Paphos, Cyprus.  We wanted to share with you the successes, highlights and activites of what the group got up to.  Our guests took a lot away from the week, but the two words of the week were connection and conversation. In this weeks episode we discuss 'base building' a term widely discussed in the running world, with sometimes not enough understanding.  Base building became very popular after an Australian coach Lydiard had huge success with some of his athletes in the 1960's.  A base building period forms a stage of your training plan before getting into the specifics of half or full marathon training. In this weeks episode we will be focusing on how to transition from winter to summer training.  A lot of people will be finishing spring races and moving into their next training block with the summer challenges coming up ahead. And what sessions to focus on.  How many days a week should you be training after returning from injury? What sessions to be doing if you're training for a 5/10k to then move into an Autumn Marathon. Last weekend we were in Manchester cheering on at the Marathon. Fresh off of the plane from Tokyo, Sammy joined us to share her race experience in collecting her 6th star medal.  We also chatted about the marathon majors.
