In October 1991, a pickup truck crashed through the front window of a Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas. What followed was one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history (at the time).  In this episode, I examine the events of that tragic day, the victims whose lives were forever changed, and the lasting impact the massacre had on discussions surrounding public safety, concealed carry laws, and mass violence in the United States. On March 12, 2026, a gunman opened fire inside an Army ROTC classroom at Old Dominion University. Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah immediately moved to stop the attacker, while cadets fought back in a desperate struggle that prevented an even greater tragedy.
