Former labor and delivery nurse Lindsay Clancy returns to court as prosecutors determine whether to retry her for the tragic strangling deaths of her three children following a deadlocked jury. Prosecutors in Tompkins County have reopened a 2024 Cornell University gang rape investigation following new allegations brought forward in a civil lawsuit. An Ohio man faces a nine-count federal indictment after allegedly coercing, sexually exploiting, and murdering a 17-year-old Indiana girl he met through online gaming. Two University of Mississippi students found dead in separate location, but both have kratom nearby.  Kratom is a tropical evergreen tree, native to Southeast Asia.  It's extract act as a psychoactive substanced. Federal authorities, including the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI, have stepped in to review the controversial 2011 death of Ellen Greenberg. Federal agencies requested and subpoenaed documents and investigative records from the Philadelphia Police Department and other local entities.    Philadelphia's chief medical examiner reaffirmed the manner of death as suicide following an independent autopsy review mandated by a civil settlement, but now federal law enforcement have opened a broader inquiry into how local authorities and the medical examiner handled the investigation.  In the moments before a civil case was to get underway, the family of Ellen Greenberg and Philadelphia officials come to an agreement to reopen the death investigation of the young teacher. The settlement means that after 14 years, the  Philadelphia Medical Examiner's office will reopen and reinvestigate Greenberg's manner of death.  Ellen Greenberg was found stabbed 20 times in the head, back, neck and chest. Then her death was ruled a suicide. The attorney for the Greenberg's, Joseph Padraza, Jr says the settlement includes an agreement that the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an “expeditious” review of the manner of Greenberg’s 2011 death. The settlement is reached days after Doctor Marlon Osbourne, who conducted the autopsy, as the former assistant medical examiner with the ME's office, signed a sworn verification statement in which he says he now believes Ellen's manner of death should be designated as something other than suicide. Doctor Osbourne initially ruled Ellen Greenberg's death a homicide then changed the ruling to suicide. In a public statement, Doctor Marlon Osbourne said after reviewing additional information in the Ellen Greenberg case file obtained from the Philadelphia Police Department as well as a consult with Doctor Lucy Rorke-Adams, a pediatric neuropathologist, he decided to make the change. In his verification, Osbourne writes that he is now unsure of the series of events that happened that day. He also says he doesn't know "whether the door was forced open as reported; whether Ellen's body was moved by someone else inside the apartment with her at or near the time of her death, and the findings of Lindsey Emery, M.D., from her neuropathological evaluation of Ellen's cervical segment sample." 911 received a call from Patrick "Ted" Barnett telling the dispatcher that his wife, Lindsey, "cut herself and her throat". First responders found Lindsey in the shower, dead, with a large laceration across the front of her neck and a serrated knife nearby. A Texas man faces capital murder charges after a five-year-old girl was killed in a roadway shooting in Harris County. Police in Jackson, Mississippi, have arrested a second murder suspect and issued a warrant for a third in connection with the death of 29-year-old mother Tasia Fortune. In Washington state, a mother faces multiple manslaughter charges after her nonverbal, epileptic 8-year-old daughter was found dead in an overflowing bathtub. Meanwhile, DNA testing has confirmed human remains found in Caldwell County belong to missing Texas State University student Jason Landry, ending a nearly six-year search. Clancy attorney Kevin Reddington is asking the trial judge to question holdout juror Michael Desronvi and review his phone records. Desronvil was the only juror who publicly stated that he “didn’t have any doubts” about Clancy’s criminal responsibility for her three children's deaths. Hayden Panettiere's death has been ruled an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and several other drugs.   The Greenville County Coroner's office says Hayden Panettiere died from the toxic effect of multiple drugs, fentanyl being number one in her system. Also found, Xanax and Seroquel.   According to this report from the coroner's office, Hayden Panettiere was found face down in a sitting position on the sofa bed, and the description is that she was sitting "crisscross applesauce."  According to Brian Hickerson, this is something she did often, and would lean forward and fall asleep. When they found her, she had already turned deep purple, Hickerson then administered Narcan twice, when that failed to wake her up he instructed his brother, Zach, to call 911, while Brian Hickerson did chest compressions. The report states that Brian Hickerson saw Hayden for the last time as she was applying makeup in the bathroom around 10:30 in the morning, they had a bowl of cereal, he went back to sleep and was woken up by his brother Zach just before 2pm that afternoon. That's when they found Hayden already purple laying on that sofa bed. Investigators reportedly found on the scene blue pressed pills that were on a table right next to Hayden. The pills tested positive for fentanyl. A straw was found next to the pills and a white powder substance was found inside a sunglasses case in her suitcase. This is significant because investigators previously had been looking into whether Hayden Panettiere obtained counterfeit oxycodone pills - that were filled with fentanyl which is what led to her death. One of the newest developments is Brian Hickerson told investigators that Hayden Panettiere had a long history of drug abuse with drugs, alcohol, and nitrous oxide. Patrick Clancy speaks out about the loss of his children, describing how his 8-mon-old died in his arms.
