Bank guarantees remain a surprisingly manual part of corporate treasury, with fragmented bank portals, spreadsheets and inconsistent processes making it difficult to maintain oversight across multiple entities. In this special TreasuryCast, recorded live at Treasury 360° Europe in Luxembourg, Eleanor Hill asks Achraf Abourida (Surecomp) to outline how greater visibility can help treasurers challenge bank performance, strengthen controls and bring guarantee management closer to the more data-driven approach used in FX and cash management.

An industry expert discusses whether trade finance will survive if nations fail to embrace digital innovation. All stakeholders must change their mindsets, he urges, and 'emerge from this archaic world'.

Does treasury transformation mean something beyond technology adoption? Eleanor Hill (TMI) sat down with Zoetis' Michel Verholen in Luxembourg at the recent Treasury 360° Europe conference to challenge the idea that transformation starts and ends with a new technology stack. Verholen reflects on what it takes to build a function that can continuously evolve, from laying the right foundations for future capabilities to recognising the human cost of a major programme. With AI adding another tier of uncertainty, he considers where it can genuinely add value and argues why taking small, considered steps may be more effective than trying to design the perfect fucntion from the outset.

With AI dominating much of the treasury conversation, Evaldas Balkys took a different approach when designing the agenda for the Baltic Treasury Conference, choosing not to feature it as a standalone topic. Speaking live from the event floor at Treasury 360° Europe in Luxembourg, Eleanor Hill (TMI) explores his perspective on how treasurers should be approaching the technology. Discussing both the opportunities and challenges AI presents, Balkys explains where human judgement and business context remain essential, why responsibility for treasury policy should remain with those who understand the organisation best, and how treasurers can begin experimenting with AI through practical analytical use cases. He also examines the risks associated with AI agents, security concerns and increasingly sophisticated AI-driven workflows, highlighting why understanding the technology is becoming just as important as using it.

With AI rapidly changing the way treasury works, finding the right talent is becoming increasingly difficult, and the next generation is having to learn the profession in a fundamentally different way. Recorded live from the floor of the recent Treasury 360° Conference in Luxembourg, Eleanor Hill (TMI) asks Marianna Polykrati, Group Treasurer at Cooke Hellas whether the traditional treasury career ladder still works in 2026, and questions how senior leaders can prepare the next generation of treasurers for what comes next.
