In this episode, we’re joined by Muzoon Matar, who went from 100 km Dubai loops to riding the Stelvio twice in one day.
Six months ago she started structured training. She’d barely touched a tubeless tyre and never ridden back-to-back mountain days. One New Year’s she signed up for the Dolomites anyway. Her reason was two words: why not.
We talk about everything that followed. She got locked down in Bahrain with no bike right before her biggest training block, propped a spin bike up to fake the climbs, and got out through Saudi before the bridge closed. Then she spent two and a half weeks alone in the Dolomites, rode the Sellaronda twice for the better views and climbed the Stelvio twice in a day.
We also get into trusting your body, being kind to yourself without letting yourself off the hook, and why “you can be a rock star at work, but go climb a mountain.”
If you’ve ever looked at a big ride and asked “why?”, try “why not?”
