Portugal’s New Seven Wonders Announced: Winners, Public Vote, and Highlights...
The clip covers the newly announced “Seven Wonders of Portugal,” revealed after a national final held in Sintra on Saturday, September 12th, with results broadcast on TVI.
It explains that hundreds of entries were narrowed to 21 finalists - three per category - and the seven winners were chosen by public vote.
The landmarks highlighted include Leiria Castle, the Roman ruins of São Cucufate (Vila de Frades, Vidigueira), Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa), the historic Usseira Aqueduct near Óbidos, the Tiago Cabaço winery in Estremoz, the red-brick Olhão municipal markets (opened in 1916), and the Episcopal Palace Garden in Castelo Branco.
We also note the contest’s return nearly 20 years after the first edition and Olhão’s success, including thanks from Mayor Ricardo Calé and Chef Noélia Jerónimo’s role as ambassador.
