On the twelfth day of Richard Allen's trial for the 2017 Delphi murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German, the prosecution rested its case after presenting key evidence. The day featured the playing of eight recorded jailhouse phone calls between Allen and his wife, Kathy, spanning from November 2022 to June 2023. In these calls, Allen made several incriminating statements, including admissions such as "I did it. I killed Abby and Libby," despite his wife's insistence that he was unwell and not responsible. Additionally, Master Trooper Brian Harshman testified, identifying Allen's voice as matching that of the "Bridge Guy" heard in the infamous video recorded by the victims.

Following the prosecution's conclusion, the defense began presenting its case. The defense has previously argued that Allen's confessions resulted from a deteriorating mental state due to harsh prison conditions, including solitary confinement. They contend that these factors led to a "situational psychosis," rendering his admissions unreliable. The defense also challenges the identification of Allen's voice, suggesting that the brief and unclear nature of the "Bridge Guy" audio makes definitive identification problematic. As the trial progresses, the defense aims to cast doubt on the prosecution's evidence and provide alternative explanations for Allen's alleged involvement in the murders.
