Each person knows the story they want to tell; all they need is someone to listen it out of them.Two. When we listen the story out of another we do so with respect, delight, and appreciation.Three. Then time passes.Now, we can look at the gift in what we perceived as complete and utter failure to create a new life, share our ideas, grow our business, and so on.What we perceived as failure becomes the opportunity we could not appreciate when we were feeling like a loser.Time and hindsight become growth.Story Prompt:  Think about a time when it looked like you had failed miserably, but with time and hindsight you grasped the opportunity for a do-over.  What happened then? When the ships entered the Strait of San Juan de Fuca from the Pacific Ocean the ship captain would know to steer a hard right to starboard when he saw the blazing beacon from the Lighthouse high on a bluff 127 feet above Admiralty Inlet before continuing safely south to Puget Sound and on into Seattle. Each lighthouse - no matter where in the world - has its very own distinctive light pattern, or signature. Lighthouses mark points of navigation, warn about dangerous coastlines, and guide ships into a safe harbor.But not all harbors are created equal for all boats. Some are for deep draft vessels, others for pleasure craft, and so on. Here’s the thing about a lighthouse: it doesn’t run up and down the coast beckoning all boats to its harbor. It serves a specifically sized boat.Question: Lighthouses don’t chase boats; why do you chase clients? What is it only you have to offer? Who needs it  and wants it? How will you attract your particular client with your very own distinctive beacon of light? Letting go. Letting go of the way I was. Letting go of my old self. Giving myself over to the walking.You think it’s easy? Get up in the dark, pack in the dark, head out in the dark. Walk 15 or 20 miles a day, no matter how hot or cold or wet. No matter how rocky or lonesome or tired. Nothing prepares you for walking Camino but to walk Camino. How do you do it? Here’s a tip: surrender. Give yourself over. You are here now. Make the most of it. When you want to stomp around and make furious gestures, make the most of that. Make the most of your joys and complaints. Give voice to them all.And then give yourself back to the only job you have: to walk. I want to be seen, heard, understood and listened to!" I had to work at saying what I mean and meaning what I say.It’s not just words. No two voices are alike. Each voice has a singular tone, an energetic imprint that’s all its own. Our voices have the power to heal, to hurt, to love, and to transform others. When we are aware of the impact our voices can have, we can consciously choose what we are expressing, and how we are making ourselves heard.It’s your voice. It was made to be heard.
