India's regulator wasted no time in ordering special maintenance inspections within 24 hours after the June 12 crash of an Air India Boeing 787. They were billed as "precautionary" and have turned up nothing notable—accident-related or otherwise. It's the latest example of how regulators are responding quickly to major occurrences, even if their actions have little technical basis.
