Egyptian underworld horror — this is what Long Night in Egypt was built for. The glowing eye of Horus leads Kayla, Mo, and Samira into the Duat, the ancient Egyptian underworld. Their path takes them to a cave lake deep beneath the pyramid, where a funerary boat waits to carry them across dark water. Kayla recognizes it from the Book of the Dead. She knows what lives in the water.
Apophis — the great serpent god of chaos, the enemy of Ra, the force that attacks the sun every night as it passes through the underworld — rises from the lake. The battle is real. The mythology is exact. The blue hand of Hapi pulls them back from the deep.
