Ep 879 : Today I dive into meeting comedian Steven Wright, Metallica at the Sphere and Jack White crushing the Palladium

Today on another episode of Let There Be Talk, I'm flying solo and getting into a few things that have been rattling around in my head. First off, I finally got to meet the legendary Steven Wright. If you know comedy, you know how important this guy is. One of the most original comedians to ever step on a stage. His brain works on a completely different frequency, and getting the chance to meet him was pretty damn cool.  I also want to talk about Metallica playing the Sphere in Las Vegas. Think about that for a second. Metallica, one of the biggest bands in the history of rock, taking on one of the most insane venues ever built. I love seeing this band go higher and higher this deep into their career. And then we're getting into one of my all-time favorite records, The White Stripes' White Blood Cells. Man, what a fucking record. Jack White is one of those artists who just gets it. The songwriting, the sounds, the attitude, the creativity. I've been a huge fan of everything that guy touches. Thanks for tuning in my friends and I hope to see you out on the road. I've known Scott for a long time, and it's always great sitting down with him and catching up. This time around, we're talking about something a little different — his new solo record "Topology" We get into songwriting, guitars, recording, and what it's like to be the lead singer on this record. Scott is really an amazing musician and friend, and I always enjoy hearing how he approaches music and where his head is at creatively. Today on another episode of Let There Be Talk, I'm sitting down with an old friend I haven't seen in about 20 years — Shane Russeck, owner of True North Watch Company. It's always crazy when you reconnect with somebody after that much time and realize you can just pick right back up where you left off. Shane and I went deep on watches, motorcycles, cars, comedy, and a whole lot of stories from back in the day. We talk about the world of watches and what it takes to build a company around something you're genuinely passionate about, but this conversation goes way beyond watches. We get into our absolute love of Design. This one really felt like two old friends sitting down and catching up — no bullshit, just a great conversation. So here we go. Today on another episode of Let There Be Talk, my guest is comedian Matt Fulchiron. Matt is a really unique comedian. He's got his own voice, his own perspective, and a style that I really enjoy. He's here today to talk about his brand-new comedy special, "Altar'd Reality," which is out now on YouTube. And Matt definitely goes into some interesting territory with this one — religion, atheism, Jesus, and just the craziness of life in general. We talk about the new special, his career in comedy, how he developed his style, and what it takes to keep doing this business and still have something to say. I've known Matt for a while, and it's always great sitting down with another comedian and talk about the craft, the road, and everything that comes with it. Today on another episode of Let There Be Talk, I'm sitting down with a guy who has one of the coolest jobs in Los Angeles — Mark Rosenthal, owner of the legendary Sunset Marquis. For decades, the Sunset Marquis has been much more than a hotel. It's been a home away from home for rock stars, musicians, actors, comedians, producers, and some of the most interesting characters to ever pass through Los Angeles. The walls of that place have seen some serious history. Today Mark takes us deep into the story of the Sunset Marquis — how it became one of the most legendary rock 'n' roll hotels in the world, the people who have stayed there, the stories that have unfolded behind those walls, and what makes the place so special after all these years. We also talk about the brand-new documentary If These Walls Could Rock, which digs into the incredible history and mythology surrounding this iconic hotel. I love the history of Los Angeles, I love rock 'n' roll, and when you put those two things together, you get one hell of a conversation. So let's get into it. Today on another episode of Let There Be Talk, I'm sitting down with Amelia Davis, curator of the incredible Jim Marshall Photography Archives. If you're a fan of rock 'n' roll history, this is a special one. Today we're talking about a brand-new book documenting one of the most legendary moments in music history — The Beatles' final concert, which took place right in San Francisco at Candlestick Park on August 29th, 1966. Jim Marshall was there with his cameras, capturing The Beatles at a moment when nobody knew they were witnessing the end of an era. These photographs give us a front-row seat to what turned out to be the final paid concert The Beatles ever played together. Amelia and I dive deep into Jim Marshall's relationship with The Beatles, the story behind these incredible photographs, the chaos surrounding that final show, and what it was really like to document some of the biggest moments in rock history through Jim's lens. This is a great conversation about The Beatles, San Francisco, Jim Marshall, photography, and the end of an incredible chapter in rock 'n' roll history. Let's get into it. Today on Let There Be Talk, I'm sitting down with a true guitar legend — Brad Gillis. Brad is one of those players whose sound you know the second you hear it. He helped define the sound of Night Ranger with those killer dual-guitar harmonies, and he also stepped into some pretty massive shoes when he joined Ozzy Osbourne's band following the passing of Randy Rhoads. We're talking about the early days, Night Ranger, Ozzy, Randy Rhoads, the legendary Speak of the Devil record, life on the road, and what it was like being one of the guitar players at the center of some of the biggest moments in rock history. Brad Gillis is a killer guitar player, a Rock n Roller and a huge part of the history of American hard rock. Let's get into it. This is Brad Gillis — right here on Let There Be Talk.
