Sabbatai Zevi was a 17th-century Jewish figure who claimed to be the Messiah. He established a messianic movement known as Sabbateanism. After facing pressure, he converted to Islam. His followers who also converted became known as the Dönme. Jacob Frank emerged in the 18th century as a successor to Sabbatai Zevi.
