Wild Birds and Wilder Places! with Brent and Dom

Man! Chukar hunting in Nevada is a WILD adventure! Sure, the bird numbers arent what they were last year but they are still pretty good! On this weeks episode I am joined by two of my most adventurous hunting buddies, Dom Watts and Brent Kroll. Dom is a New Mexico native that lives in Alaska. He is a sheep hunting and bird hunting addict and is always down for an adventure in a new place.  Brent is a NAVHDA judge and hard core wild bird hunter. He spends most of his year in the forests of Michigan chasing ruffed grouse, but really wanted to get out of the woods and do some climbing for his first wild chukar hunt. We discuss our hunts while in Nevada. Huns, Valley Quail, and Chukar. We also talk about sheep hunting, back country ATV riding, and even archery hunting for Musk Ox in Alaska. It has been a very long road to get to this place with Rusty. He and I have spent countless days and more miles than I care to think about chasing birds from the artic circle to the mexican border and everywhere in between. But finally we have done it. Rusty and Me together have both managed somehow to hunt and harvest every upland bird species in north america TOGETHER.  Katie Willis and Kirk Adams helped make this possible.  In this episode we discuss how amazing valley quail are as a game bird. Covey dynamics, mountain lions, chukar and much much more.  

Man! 2025 has certainly been the year of the Pheasant in North Dakota! Wess, George and Myself recap our favorite moments of the season. We also chat about an EPIC hunt to finish off the season in style!

Im 4 days away from the start of my big winter trip so I asked George to join me on the podcast to talk about all the gear and planning that goes into a trip like this.  We also talk about the last few days of our pheasant hunting....spoiler alert! Its been AWESOME!!!

Greg is a passionate bird hunter and conservationist. His passions have lead him from designing dakota 283 kennels to owning a farm in South Dakota with some of the most pristine habitat that I have ever seen. Now his new venture is Habitat One. Habitat One is there to help make conections between landowners and programs that they can use to help put more habitat on the ground.

On this weeks episode we are joined by a couple of repeat guests to Sharptail Camp. Bob and Scottie were up here last year also and we break down how last season compares to this season. We also talk about their friendship and hunting trips planned for the rest of the season.
