MISFIT IN HELL / TO HEAVEN EXPAT

The second interview in our "Proof of Heaven" series. Kathleen McDaniel''s incredible account of her near-death experience (NDE) and what she learned from it.Placed on a ventilator for lung failure in 1999, M.K. McDaniel fought for her life in a drug-induced coma for three weeks. Misfit In Hell To Heaven Expat is a memoir of M.K.'s experiences before, during, and after a Dark Near-Death Experience. Her family waited and prayed, totally unaware of the horrors M.K. was bravely facing and miserably enduring in a seemingly eternal hell, culminating in her eventual glimpse of heaven and chat with her deceased fiancé. But M.K. still had work to do on Earth. During her lengthy recovery, as M.K. reflected on the purpose of her experiences in the Afterlife, she recalled the tribulations of her family ancestors and their courage to survive. If they could overcome their overwhelming obstacles, then so could she. As memories of former earthly hellish traumas surfaced and seemed to parallel her actual hell experiences, M.K. sought out others with the same story. She eventually found solace, hope, and understanding at the International Association of Near-Death Studies meetings in Seattle. IANDS offered insights, camaraderie, and joy she had nearly forgotten to be possible in this life. Giovanni's Ring is the story of "Giovanni Rocco," a New Jersey police officer, known undercover as "Giovanni Gatto," who spent over twenty years in various undercover roles, penetrating biker gangs, drug cartels, white supremacist groups, and domestic and international terror groups. Most significantly, he was the mysterious agent at the epicenter of Operation Charlie Horse, a federal undercover operation that ultimately brought down ten members and associates of New Jersey's DeCavalcante Mafia family—the criminal organization otherwise known to law enforcement as "the real Sopranos." Giovanni spent nearly three years working his way into the DeCavalcante hierarchy. He was so convincing in his role that capo Charlie "the Hat" Stango (also known as Charlie "Beeps") began to treat him as his "right hand." Over time, the personal relationship between the two men grew to a point where Charlie treated Giovanni more as a favored son than just an associate. Giovanni became so fully trusted that Stango went "on the record" for him with the family's administration and put him in charge of his own crew. Giovanni was permitted to attend meetings with other high-ranking members of the DeCavalcante crime family, as well as with senior members of New York's notorious Gambino, Genovese, and Lucchese Mafia families, and was authorized to speak on his capo's behalf. Each passing day became a roll of the dice for Giovanni, plaguing him with doubts: Is today the day my cover is blown? Is this the last day I see my wife and children? Will one of my deals between families or crews go bad and I'll get clipped? Is this all worth it? Stango eventually assigned Giovanni the task of killing Luigi "the Dog" Oliveri, a troublesome made member of the crime family. That lethal assignment brought the undercover operation to an end in March 2015, and the resulting string of high-profile arrests eviscerated the criminal organization. In the course of the operation, Giovanni secretly recorded hundreds of conversations relating to a wide range of crimes including counterfeit and contraband goods trafficking, warehouse robberies, truck hijackings, and drug trafficking. Also, and importantly for his own safety, he learned that the DeCavalcante family had secured access to sensitive law enforcement information, including information about specific investigations into DeCavalcante members and associates. In 1859, as America teetered on the edge of a civil war, Washington DC was a swirling mix of political tension and reckless partying and social life. Congressman Dan Sickles and his beautiful young wife were among the most popular party hosts in the city, until Congressman Sickles discovered that his best friend, US District Attorney Philip Barton Key, the dashing son of Francis Scott Key, had been having an affair for the past year with Sickle's wife Teresa. When Sickles saw Key outside his home in Lafayette Park using a handkerchief signal to invite her to their trysting place- he flew into a rage, grabbed three pistols, walked out into the park, and shot and mortally wounded Key. The story of Sgt. Don Dinwiddie, radioman on the B-17 GI Sheets, and his crew as they barely survived being shot down in German-held territory on Jan 29th, 1944,as told by author Terry Irwin. Today's history classes really don't teach the many ways that commen men with uncommon courage fought for our freedom in WWII- and this story is a great example. Saturday, January 29, 1944 -- it was the day that forever changed the life of T/Sgt. Don Dinwiddie, radioman on the G.I. Sheets, a B-17 bomber on a mission to destroy Nazi targets in Frankfurt, Germany. Hobbled by a bad engine and struggling to make it back to safety amidst enemy flak and German fighter planes, the G.I. Sheets was shot down over Belgium. Aided by members of the Belgian underground, Don evaded capture for nearly four months before being betrayed and handed over to the Germans; he finished the remainder of the war as a POW, spending the last eighty-six days behind enemy lines on a 600-mile forced march.
