Income is often the scoreboard we use in business, especially when we are trying to understand how far we have come or how long it should take to reach the next level. When that number is not moving the way you expected, it is easy to assume something obvious must be wrong and start looking at what other stylists are doing differently.

That is where a lot of expensive guessing begins. The number can show you the outcome of the choices you have made up until now, but it cannot explain what created it. Without understanding that first, you can spend months changing your marketing, investing in support, or rebuilding parts of the business that were never the real problem.

In this episode of The Six Figure Personal Stylist Podcast, I’m talking about why income alone cannot tell you what needs to change in your business. I’m also looking at how stylists end up spending time and money on the wrong fix when they skip over what created the result in the first place.

3:00 – Income, slow months, and fewer inquiries as symptoms of a larger business problem

4:08 – The fixes stylists reach for first when something feels off in the business

6:23 – Marketing as the easy answer when income is not where you want it to be

7:28 – Unclear positioning showing up in your messaging, pricing, and styling offers

8:23 – Investing in the wrong solution and deciding help does not work

14:58 – Two personal stylists making the same income with completely different problems to solve

17:47 – Comparison, avoidance, and the role they play in how you read your own business

19:04 – Nicole’s answer when a stylist asks how long it will take to reach six figures
