From Police Officer to CEO: Rebuilding After Burnout and Chronic Symptoms
Suggested episode title: Burnout That Looks Functional: Natalie Rivans on the Nervous System and Brain Retraining
Natalie Rivans, CEO of re-origin, joins Furkhan to talk about her years in Metropolitan Police work, fueled by stress, determination, and a growing habit of pushing through. She describes the pain, anxiety and exhaustion that followed and the framework she later encountered through neuroplasticity-based brain retraining.
In the conversation, Natalie discusses how outward functioning can hide burnout, why repeated exposure in policing can become normalized, her experience as a woman in policing, what brain retraining means within her approach, and why she considers community an essential part of Re-Origin.
Natalie is clear that her experience isn't a miracle-fix story and that brain retraining wasn't the only thing that helped her. This episode is a personal conversation and general discussion, not medical advice.
Natalie Rivans is CEO of re-origin, a neuroscience-based brain retraining and nervous system regulation program. A former Metropolitan Police officer, Natalie now works at the intersection of neuroplasticity, stress physiology and behaviour change. She is a certified somatic practitioner, menopause coach, and applied neuroscience practitioner, and is passionate about helping people understand how the brain and nervous system can adapt after prolonged stress, illness, and adversity.
