Australian actor Damien Richardson has been an outspoken critic of the pandemic response since 2020. In this podcast, we talk about Damien's perspectives on the current political climate in Australia, his personal experience during the pandemic, and his current speaking tour "Reconstructing Reality".
Damien Richardson is a well known television, film and theatre actor. He grew up in Adelaide studying Politics and Drama at Flinders University before moving to Melbourne in 1989 to study at the VCA. He has starred in many television shows and feature films including Neighbours, City Homicide, The Hard Word, The Jammed, Rouge and Jack Irish. He was nominated for an AFI award for his role in Secret Life of Us. He has worked with some of the biggest names in Australian Film and Television including Guy Pearce, Joel Egerton, Sam Worthington, Rachel Griffiths, Gary Sweet, Vince Colosimo, Noni Hazelhurst, Shane Bourne, Nadine Garner, Aaron Pedersen and Deborah Mailman. He also did a tele movie, Fatal Honeymoon, shot on the Gold Coast with Harvey Keitel.
Since 2020 Damien has been propelled into "having the conversations the others are too afraid to have". Damien has had articles published in Quadrant Online and Cauldron Pool, along with working on an interview-based online radio show. More recently Damien has started his own podcast at damienrichardson.online.
After a successful year of speaking engagements in SA and Victoria, Damien is taking his tour to Queensland and NSW in 2024. He takes a satirical look at his life and career, and the cost of speaking out. Entertaining and compelling, Damien brings a unique insight to the issues facing our nation.
